Project Highlights

Project Overview: Crafting a Stunning Backyard in Atlanta

Backyard Design Atlanta: Ashley Daniels Case Study

Southern Property Services transformed a problematic backyard in Atlanta into a functional and visually stunning outdoor oasis for client Ashley Daniels. The goal was to address severe drainage issues, level an uneven yard, and create a low-maintenance space with fresh sod, natural stone hardscaping, and privacy plantings. Our expert backyard design Atlanta services delivered a polished, durable, and beautiful result tailored to the homeowner’s vision.

Challenges: Overcoming Drainage and Design Obstacles

The Atlanta property faced significant challenges that hindered its usability and appeal:

Persistent Drainage Issues: Low points in the yard caused water pooling near the home’s foundation and fence line, leading to soil erosion and structural concerns.
Uneven Terrain: The backyard’s uneven grading made it impractical for regular use or aesthetic enhancements.
Specific Client Requests: The client required wax myrtles of a precise height for privacy, which demanded careful sourcing.
Low-Maintenance Needs: The design needed to balance beauty with minimal upkeep, a common priority for Atlanta homeowners seeking backyard design solutions.

These challenges required a strategic approach combining expert landscaping and hardscaping techniques to ensure long-term functionality and visual appeal.

Our Solution: Expert Backyard Design Atlanta Services

Southern Property Services implemented a comprehensive plan to transform the backyard, leveraging our expertise in Atlanta backyard design and hardscaping:

Professional Grading for Drainage
Using a Bobcat, our team regraded the yard to redirect water away from the home and toward designated drainage channels. This protected the foundation and prepared the terrain for sod installation, a critical step for Atlanta properties prone to heavy rainfall.
Enhanced Soil and Drainage Systems
We amended the soil to optimize drainage and support healthy turf growth. Custom drainage channels were installed to prevent pooling and erosion, ensuring a durable solution tailored to Atlanta’s climate.
TifTuf Bermuda Sod Installation
We sourced premium TifTuf Bermuda sod from Super Sod, a trusted Atlanta supplier, to create a lush, vibrant lawn. This drought-resistant sod is ideal for Atlanta’s hot summers, providing an instant transformation and long-term durability.
Natural Stone Hardscaping
To enhance functionality and aesthetics, we designed and installed natural stone pathways that connect key areas of the backyard. These pathways add structure, complement the landscape, and align with Atlanta’s trend toward elegant, low-maintenance hardscaping.
Privacy Plantings with Wax Myrtles
Collaborating with MNI Direct, we sourced wax myrtles meeting the client’s exact height specifications. These plantings were strategically placed along the perimeter to ensure privacy while enhancing the backyard’s natural beauty, a popular feature in Atlanta backyard designs.

Backyard Design Atlanta

The completed backyard design Atlanta project delivered exceptional results:

Functional and Level Lawn: The regraded yard and TifTuf Bermuda sod created a smooth, usable outdoor space perfect for relaxation or entertaining.
Effective Drainage Solution: The new drainage system eliminates pooling and erosion, protecting the property for years to come.
Elegant Hardscaping: Natural stone pathways add charm and practicality, seamlessly blending with the landscape.
Privacy and Beauty: The carefully sourced wax myrtles provide the desired privacy while enhancing the yard’s aesthetic appeal.
Low-Maintenance Design: The combination of durable sod, efficient drainage, and minimal-upkeep plantings ensures the backyard remains stunning with little effort.

This transformed backyard is now a welcoming extension of Ashley Daniels’ Atlanta home, showcasing Southern Property Services’ expertise in backyard design Atlanta, hardscaping, and landscaping.
